Legal Allies for the Survivors of Human Trafficking

Many victims of sex trafficking and labor trafficking turn to the civil courts to seek justice against the individuals and institutions that trafficked them.

At Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, our experienced attorneys can help labor trafficking and sex trafficking victims across the United States by taking a trauma-informed approach to legal representation. We prioritize our clients’ mental and emotional well-being at every step. We work to minimize the impact of the legal system on our clients and work creatively to achieve results that help our clients move forward and heal.

What To Know About the TVPRA

The federal Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA), grants survivors of human trafficking the right to file civil lawsuits against the individuals or organizations that participated in trafficking them. A TVPRA lawsuit can also include anyone who profited from the trafficking scheme. In addition, the TVPRA has a long statute of limitations, allowing survivors to file your claim up to 10 years after the date of the trafficking.
