Erica Roberts is an Associate at Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight.

At Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, Erica’s practice has focused on employment discrimination, qui tam, and public interest litigation, representing governments, individuals, and classes. Working with a team of Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight attorneys, Erica has represented clients including:

  • A class of over 10,000 current and former African American Deputy U.S. Marshals and Detention Enforcement Officers who have experienced racism in hiring, promotions, and headquarters assignments from 1994 to the present
  • A whistleblower alleging that Invitation Homes, one of the largest corporate landlords in the country, defrauded hundreds of California cities by failing to secure necessary permits for renovation work
  • Local governments in their claims against opioid manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) for their role in creating the public health emergency caused by prescription opioids
  • A class of former employees of West Monroe Partners who were short-changed when the consulting firm cashed out their holdings in the company’s employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) as part of West Monroe’s acquisition by a private equity firm
  • Individuals alleging gender and race discrimination and retaliation against their employers, including high tech companies and law firms
  • Whistleblowers in sealed and unsealed qui tam suits under investigation by the U.S. government and other governmental stakeholders

Erica received her law degree from The University of Texas and her undergraduate degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. While in law school, she interned for Texas RioGrande Legal Aid and three different law firms that specialize in employment discrimination and civil rights, and was also a Pro Bono Scholar for the Expunction Project and a student attorney for the Immigration Clinic.

Before joining Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, Erica completed a clerkship for the Honorable Nelva Gonzales Ramos of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

When Erica is not lawyering, she enjoys walking her dog Roxy, practicing yoga, and traveling internationally.

U.S. Marshals Race Discrimination Class Action

In a class action race discrimination case, Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight is counsel for the class, which includes over 700 current and former African American Deputy U.S. Marshals and Detention Enforcement Officers who have experienced racism in hiring, promotions, and headquarters assignments from 1994 to the present.
