Candelaria Barrera-Mejia

Candelaria Barrera-Mejia is a Legal Assistant in the Baltimore office of Sanford Heisler Sharp, a national law firm with offices in the District of Columbia, New York, California, Tennessee, and Maryland.

Candelaria graduated summa cum laude from Barnard College, where she received departmental honors and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. At Barnard, Candelaria majored in sociology and minored in education studies. Her senior thesis was a qualitative study on labor trends among New York City public school teachers amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. During her time at Barnard, Candelaria mentored and tutored ELL high school students, worked as a research assistant for the sociology department, managed an on-campus music venue, and engaged with various community outreach programs across New York City.

Candelaria’s other previous experiences include interning for Partners for Justice, The Brave House, and Sadie Nash Leadership Program. She is committed to being a lifelong learner and advocate and intends to attend law school in the future.
