Simon Schaitkin
Senior Legal Assistant
Simon Schaitkin is a Senior Legal Assistant in the New York office of Sanford Heisler Sharp, a national law firm with offices in the District of Columbia, New York, California, Tennessee, Maryland, and Georgia. Simon graduated cum laude from Yale University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in English. He also received a Richard U. Light Fellowship for Chinese Study in East Asia, which he used to study Mandarin at Harvard-Beijing Academy in the summer of 2014.
At Yale, Simon performed with and was elected Vice President of the Yale Dramatic Association. Prior to his senior year, he was inducted into the Yale Whiffenpoofs – the nation’s oldest collegiate a cappella group. He toured with the Whiffenpoofs domestically and to over thirty countries around the world. He wrote his thesis on gender performativity and queer futurity in Fun Home – both the graphic novel and the stage adaptation.
Since graduating, Simon worked as the Call Center Manager for Invisible Hands Deliver, which was founded at the outset of the pandemic to provide free food delivery to at-risk New York residents. He trained and organized over forty rotating volunteers to support the organization, and he also served as the interstitial tissue between various departments. He later left Invisible Hands Deliver to canvass on behalf of the Biden campaign in Allegheny County. He was promoted twice over the course of the campaign, finishing as a Deputy Director responsible for enforcing Covid-related safety protocols, communicating with local law enforcement, and training new canvassers.
Simon is considering attending law school in the future.
