Legal Assistant

Nicole Motherway is a Legal Assistant in the Washington, DC office of Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, a national law firm with offices in the District of Columbia, New York, California, Tennessee, and Maryland. She received her B.A. from Wesleyan University, where she double-majored in government and psychology and earned a certificate in social, cultural, and critical theory. Nicole graduated with high honors and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.

At Wesleyan, Nicole chaired the Government Majors Committee, competed with the Mock Trial team, and hosted a radio show on WESU 88.1 FM. She studied political theory abroad at King’s College London. Nicole also worked as a Constitutional Law Course Assistant and a Government Department Research Assistant. Her senior thesis, “Second Chances: Rethinking Extreme Punishment for Young Adults in the Criminal Legal System,” received the highest distinction from the Government Department.

Previously, Nicole interned for the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, interned at a criminal and capital defense firm in Alexandria, Virginia, and worked as a Legal Research Assistant for a federal criminal legal treatise. She volunteers with the Free Minds Book Club in Washington, DC.
