Legal Intake and Operations Specialist

Kaili Meier is a Legal Intake and Operations Specialist in the New York office of Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, a national law firm with offices in the District of Columbia, New York, California, Tennessee, and Maryland. Kaili graduated from Barnard College, where she majored in political science. While at Barnard, she served as the Opinion editor for the Columbia Daily Spectator, editor for the Columbia Political Review and was selected to be an Athena Scholar. During college, Kaili worked at the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant in Berkeley, Ca., assisting asylum seekers with direct legal services; Safe Passage Project at New York Law School, advocating for the rights of unaccompanied minors seeking asylum; and the Global Justice Center, focusing on fighting for reproductive rights internationally and protecting women around the world against sexual reproductive violence through international human rights law. After Barnard, Kaili worked as a paralegal at Sullivan and Cromwell, before working in the General Counsel’s office at Human Rights Watch, where she enjoyed gaining more experience in international human rights law. Kaili plans to attend law school one day to pursue a career in public interest law and to continue advocating for vulnerable communities.
