Julia Newman is a Senior Legal Intake and Operations Specialist in the Nashville office of Sanford Heisler Sharp, a national law firm with offices in the District of Columbia, New York, California, Tennessee, Maryland, and Georgia. She received her B.A. with high distinction from the University of Virginia, where she double majored in Leadership & Public Policy in the Frank Batten School of Leadership & Public Policy and Government in the Woodrow Wilson Department of Politics.
During her time at the University of Virginia, Julia interned with the Center for Effective Lawmaking to highlight the Center’s research on American legislative institutions. She worked as a student consultant in the Hacking4Defense program, where her team presented their client at the Department of Defense with solutions that the U.S. Government can explore to prevent American operational forces from acting based on deep-fakes and other digitally manipulated media. In her final capstone project, Julia worked for the Focused Ultrasound Foundation, a healthcare social venture, on a research project analyzing different avenues to increase healthcare coverage for the focused ultrasound treatment for active and retired military members.
These experiences fueled her interests in the fields of law and public policy, and in the future, Julia hopes to attend law school.
