Associate

Denise Choung is an Associate at Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight. Her practice is focused on Financial Services Litigation.

Denise received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota, LL.M. in International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London, M.B.A. from INSEAD, and B.A. from Korea University.

While at the University of Minnesota, from which she was granted a full scholarship, Denise was on the Dean’s List for four semesters, and received Book Awards from International Trade Law and International and Foreign Legal Research courses. She served as a Managing Editor of the Minnesota Journal of International Law and received the Outstanding Editor Award. She also served as a Student Director of the Human Rights Litigation and International Advocacy Clinic. As a 2017 Newman Human Rights Fellow, she interned at the Committee on the Rights of the Child of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland.

Denise is a member of the bars of California, Minnesota, New York, and New Jersey; she is also a solicitor of England and Wales.

Before joining Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, Denise completed a clerkship for the Honorable Jamie L. Anderson of the Fourth Judicial District Court of Minnesota. Prior to her clerkship, she was an arbitration intern at Herbert Smith Freehills in London and International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce in New York, where she gained experience in international commercial arbitration. Prior to her legal career, she worked for over ten years internationally as a business developer, sports marketer, and management consultant for global firms such as Samsung Electronics and Nokia.

When Denise is not lawyering, she enjoys outdoor activities such as running, swimming, and biking.
