Aakshi Chaba is a Legal Assistant in the Washington, DC office of Sanford Heisler Sharp, a national law firm with offices in the District of Columbia, New York, California, Tennessee, Maryland, and Georgia. She received her B.A. cum laude with departmental distinction from Yale University.
Aakshi wrote her senior thesis about the factors that affect female property ownership in India, exploring the impact of historical property inheritance practices, cultural traditions, state legislation, and religion. Her paper highlighted important links between the position that women occupy in the household and the amount of property they own.
At Yale, Aakshi worked as a research assistant in the Economics Department, wrote for the Yale Daily News, and served on the Undergraduate Title IX Student Advisory Board. She spent her last summer interning at a legal non-profit in India, where she conducted research on national bonded labor regulations.
Aakshi plans to attend law school in the future.
