Saba Bireda Named Partner in Washington, DCFelicia Gilbert Becomes Senior Litigation Counsel & Managing Attorney of San Francisco Office

March 12, 2019, New York – Sanford Heisler Sharp a leading national law firm with offices in Washington, DC, New York, San Francisco, San Diego, Nashville and Baltimore, today announced the promotion of 10 lawyers, including a new partner in DC and a new Managing Attorney in the firm’s San Francisco office. The firm has also added eight new lawyers, and one administrator as of January 1, 2019.

These promotions and new hires will position us to take on the cases that positively impact the social fabric of our society.”

Promotion to Partner

Saba Bireda, Harvard Law School ’08, is now a partner in the firm. She joined Sanford Heisler Sharp after service as a member of the senior staff at the U.S. Department of Education. Resident in the firm’s Washington, DC office, her experience includes serving as a policy and legal advisor at Educational Counsel, LLC; as Deputy Director of the Poverty and Race Research Action Council, and as an Education Policy Analyst at the Center for American Progress. Bireda was also a Philadelphia Bar Foundation Fellow, working both as a Litigation Associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP and as a Staff Attorney at the Education Law Center in Philadelphia.  In 2016, Bireda was appointed to a three-year term on the District of Columbia Public Charter School Board.

Promotions to Senior Litigation Counsel

The firm also promoted seven associates to senior litigation counsel, including Felicia Gilbert, Columbia University Law School ’10, who was named Managing Attorney of its San Francisco office.

Others joining the ranks of Sanford Heisler Sharp's senior litigation counsel include; Inayat Hemani, New York University School of Law ’12; Melinda Koster, Stanford University Law School ’12; and David Tracey, New York University School of Law ’13 – all in the firm’s New York office.

Additional new senior litigation counsel include Andrew Miller, Harvard University Law School ’11; and Aimee Krause Stewart, Stanford University Law School ’13; in the firm’s Washington, DC, office; and Danielle Fuschetti, University of Michigan School of Law ’13; in its San Francisco office.

Promotions to Associate

The firm also promoted two litigation fellows to associate, including Adán Martínez, Yale University Law School ’17; in the firm’s New York office; and Cara VanDorn, Wake Forest University School of Law ’17; in its San Diego office.

New Hires

Sanford Heisler Sharp added two new associates and five new litigation fellows.

Its new associates are: Ryan Cooper, Yale University Law School ’15; in the firm’s Washington, DC, office; Emily Linehan, Chicago-Kent College of Law ’17; in the firm’s Nashville office.

Rounding out the firm’s 2019 cohort of new lawyers are a group of litigation fellows in the following offices:

  • San Francisco- Christopher Yandel, University of California-Berkeley Law School ’17;
