Tenacious and Diligent
Our law firm was founded on our commitment to obtaining justice for those harmed by powerful institutions.
Both female and male cadets at the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) have routinely faced sexual violence and sexual misconduct at the academy, from forcible kissing to rape. News reports and Senate hearings have revealed that the USCGA leadership failed to stop the epidemic of sexual assaults and abuse—and then actively sought to cover up the problem, as the very perpetrators within their midst advanced through the ranks.
Those who survive sexual violence in the armed forces deserve not only to be heard but the ability to seek justice and compensation for the failure of leaders to protect them from sexual misconduct. Christine Dunn, a former sex crimes federal prosecutor and now Co-Chair of Sanford Heisler Sharp’s Sexual Violence, Title IX, and Victims’ Rights Practice, has earned acclaim for bringing civil claims against the Army, Navy, and Marines on behalf of women and men who endured sexual violence during their service.
Working with Ryan Melogy of Maritime Legal Aid and Advocacy, Christine is now representing current and former cadets who survived sexual assault and sexual harassment while attending the USCGA.
We know how difficult it is to come forward to disclose sexual abuse. Christine and her team at Sanford Heisler Sharp have extensive experience helping survivors in a trauma-informed, compassionate, and victim-centered manner. She and her staff regularly take on some of the nation’s most powerful institutions when they cause harm, including colleges and universities, public school districts, hospitals, and government entities.
Experience Representing Survivors Of Military Sexual Assault
Christine currently represents 15 U.S. Army servicemembers who were patients of Dr. Michael Stockin, a former pain management specialist who is facing criminal charges for the sexual abuse of patients at Madigan Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington.
