Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement on Ramadan

March 2025

This year, Ramadan will be observed by Muslims around the world starting at sundown on February 28. Ramadan is a time that encourages meaningful reflections, strengthens faith, and develops personal growth—both individually and within their communities. During the month of Ramadan, many partake in fasting (Sawm), prayer (Salat), and charity (Zakat). Fasting is a practice that involves refraining from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset. It is broken at the end of the day by iftar, a meal shared with family and community at sunset. While an important aspect of observing Ramadan, fasting is a practice that some may or may not partake in for several reasons.

Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight wishes Ramadan Mubarak to all observers. We hope this month brings moments of reflection and community to all.
