In January 2014, Sanford Heisler Sharp and the U.S. Government settled a False Claims Act (“FCA”) whistleblower action with the City of New York’s Department of Education (“DOE”). In her Complaint, Relator Ohlmeyer, a social worker who was providing small-group and individual psychological services to emotionally disturbed elementary and junior high school students in the New York City public schools, alleged that between 2001 and 2004 the DOE submitted false claims to Medicaid for psychological counseling services.
